DAV IS10 - What HiFi Product of the Year
The DAV-IS10 won the “What HiFi” Product of the Year when it was launched back in 2007, they said “The most amazing thing about the Sony system is the powerful sound emitted from its tiny satellite speakers. They are not much bigger than a £2 coin, yet everyone who hears them is amazed”.
DAV IS10 - Review 1
I purchased the DAV IS10 to replace my existing surround sound theatre system which I have had for over 5 years. I have not been disappointed! The first thing that impressed me with the IS10 is the size of the speakers, they are tiny! They are literally the size of golf balls. I was worried that speaekers this small wouldn’t be able to produce enough sound, but they do!. I have a fairly large room and the DAV-IS10 is more than loud enough. The other thing I really like is the massive bass box, my room literally shakes when watching some films.
I was initially concerned with which ports and connections the DAVIS10 would have. There is a coaxial connector, a HDMI port, analogue audio ports and a DMPORT for streaming music from your mp3 player or mobile.
The DAV IS10 has a built in AM/FM radio, also has a TV input for if you want to connect your TV to the surround sound. It also upscales your DVDs to 1080i, I can’t comment on what this is like because I own a blue-ray player which I connect to the IS10 so I cannot comment.
I am not at all disappointed with my purchase. The only real moan I have with the Sony DAV IS10 is it is not always loud enough, it might be loud enough for most people, but I like to play my music LOUD and the IS10 doesn’t have quite as much umph as I would have liked.
DAVIS10 - Review 2
I was looking for a DVD home theatre system to go with my new 40” Sony W LCD. I decided to go for the DAV IS10 and I have not been disappointed. Setting the system up was easy. I had read just how small the speakers were, but I still couldn’t believe my eyes when I took then out of the box. The sound coming out of them doesn’t sound like the speakers at all, how can such tiny things produce the sound that they do?
My only gripe is that the volume control has to be turned up over half way to get a decent sound out of the system.
I got a good price for my DAV IS10 by using a price comparison site and ended up buying it from Amazon.
Sony DAV-IS10 - Review 3
I spent about a week looking for a dvd home theatre system and in the end settled on the DAV-IS10 because I liked the way it looked. The speakers really are tiny which suited me well as I am using this system in my bedroom. Setting up the IS10 was easy thanks to the automatic setup routine which took car of it all for me.
I’ve placed the speakers just in front of my TV and the other on a window sill, you can barely notice that they are there. The sound it quite clear and crisp and easy to hear peoples voices over the other noises in films. This means the main unit is small and looks good under my TV, it has kind of a glossy black finished with a single row of buttons that light up when you need to use them and then fade away when they are not being used.
All in all, I am pleased with the DAV-IS10 and would definitely buy it again
